Lynn Wink, Chair
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
My name is Lynn Wink and I’m pumped to be this year’s CSC Chair. This is my second year on the Committee, and I look forward to seeing all the potential of the CSC unfold. I’m in my third year at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Ark., and I received my undergraduate degree from Texas A & M University. In school, I enjoy working with incoming medical students and being active in volunteer projects. Outside of school, I like to travel, spend time with my family and friends, and watch old TV shows on DVD.
Martina Ayad, Vice Chair
University of Texas Medical School at Houston
My name is Martina Ayad, and I am excited to have the opportunity to be on CSC this year. I am currently a third year at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. I grew up in Cairo, Egypt. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than doing community service. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with family and friends and watching Friends, nip/tuck and Ugly Betty, and drawing when the chance arises. My favorite utensil is charcoal. I enjoy traveling, and do it as often as I can.
Neil Mashruwala, Vice Chair
Wayne State University School of Medicine
Hi, my name is Neil Mashruwala, and I am a second year medical student at Wayne State University School of Medicine. I graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 2007 with a B.S. in biomedical engineering. I am currently the national representative for my school AMA chapter, and I am excited to be a Vice Chair of CSC this year. My passion is community service, and I am a coordinator of a number of different programs at my school. When I am not studying, I love to watch sports and movies, run, and read. I am a huge fan of basketball and love the Chicago Bulls - hopefully they can return to glory sometime soon.
Kathleen Doo
University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine
My name is Kathleen Doo, and I am third year medical student in the six year BA/MD program at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. I was born and raised in California and graduated from Clovis West High School (Go Eagles!). This will be my first year on CSC, and I’m extremely excited. I love my family, friends, coffee shops, and food!
Ben Easter
Harvard Medical School
Hi, I'm Ben Easter, and I'm a second year at Harvard Medical School. I'm originally from Richmond, Va., but went to school in Jersey at Princeton. I graduated in 2007 with an AB in economics. At school, I am involved with Boston Asthma Swim, and this will be my first experience with the AMA. Otherwise, I spend my time catching up on seasons of 24 that I've missed and following basically any sport out there, but especially ACC basketball.
Jed Hummel
University of Texas Medical School at Houston
My name is Jed Hummel. I am a second year medical student at University of Texas Medical School in Houston. I graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2007. This year I am honored and excited to be a part of CSC. My rewarding experiences volunteering during my undergrad and now in medical school have left me wanting to get more involved. I look forward to the year to come on the Committee, meeting new people and serving the community. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, traveling, going to the movies, and watching my favorite sports team, the San Antonio Spurs. I am a sarcastic, laid-back person who just enjoys having fun.
Kristen Lee
New York Medical College
My name is Kristen Lee, and I am currently a second year at New York Medical College. I am very excited to be a part of CSC this year! I got my undergraduate degree in Biology and Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University in 2007 and have missed Pittsburgh ever since (Go Steelers !!). Before college, I lived in Hong Kong for most of my life, another city I love and call home. In medical school, I have been involved in organizing community service and advocacy events at school and in the New York area. When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling very much and trying exotic cuisines (how can you not if you're from Hong Kong).
Kristy Pahl
Michigan State University College of Human Medicine
My name is Kristy Pahl, and I am a second year student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. I am originally from Traverse City, Mich., and I attended college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and graduated with a degree in Sociology. Before attending medical school I took a year off and worked in a lung cancer research laboratory in the Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation at Michigan State. Last year I served as the MSU-AMA chair for the MichUHCAN ballot initiative, which works with organizations across the state to pass legislation requiring the government to provide health insurance for all Michigan residents. I am currently the National Chair for my chapter. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running, basketball, traveling (especially to tropical destinations!), and watching college football.
Seema Shah
Emory University School of Medicine
Hi, I'm Seema Shah. I'm currently pursuing an MPH, between my third and fourth years of medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. I grew up in Houston, attended Northwestern University just north of Chicago, and then did women's health research in India before medical school. I'm set on family medicine and a career in global health. I'm looking forward to a an exciting and strong year on CSC.
