A framework and empirical strategies for assessing health care efficiency

Concerns over rising healthcare spending in the U.S. continue to motivate discussions and activities in evaluating healthcare efficiency.  The PCPI Work Group on Efficiency and Cost of Care, co-chaired by Drs. William Golden and Jonathan Sugarman, has prepared two papers which are intended to provide the Work Group and the PCPI with a technical foundation for the development of future strategies and projects in healthcare efficiency measurement and improvement.
