The OMSS is the only national group that advocates for medical staff organizations. We have the credibility, authority, and resources to support and represent your interests, and we encourage you and your colleagues to join in our efforts.

We make sure the message of physicians on medical staffs gets heard by the AMA and, ultimately, federal and state legislators, health care agencies, the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the insurance industry, and other public and private sector groups.

In fact, we were the AMA's motivating force behind the establishment of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Guidelines for Physician Involvement in Health Plans. The OMSS also sought to educate physicians on bioterrorism before it became a national issue. Each of these actions began with a single voice that was amplified by the OMSS, the AMA, and a host of others.
