Ethical guidelines for gifts to physicians from industry

Overview

The initiative is intended to help educate physicians and industry representatives about ethical guidelines regarding gifts that are given to physicians from industry as a part of marketing practices. Since its launch in the summer of 2001, the initiative has reached out to a broad cross section of industry and the medical profession, including state and specialty medical societies, medical schools and residency programs, trade groups, and pharmaceutical, device, and medical equipment companies.

Online educational resources

The AMA's national initiative on The Communication of Ethical Guidelines for Gifts to Physicians From Industry offers four free online educational modules for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM.
