Handouts, materials for your meetings

The AMA-YPS has produced the following e-mails, brochures and slide presentations that can be used to highlight various benefits of AMA-YPS membership and activities. One can quickly and easily duplicate these materials for use locally.

We would be happy to work with you to develop customized materials (e.g., a brochure focusing on resources/activities of interest to family practitioners or to physicians in a given state), to adapt/modify the information below, or to provide you with a limited number of complimentary printed publications that you can take with you to local meetings.

We welcome any feedback about the value, utilization, etc. of these materials or suggestions for additional materials you would find helpful, e-mail the YPS.

E-Mail: We make it easy for you to communicate electronically with your friends and colleagues about the value of our AMA-YPS web site and its access to helpful AMA and AMA-YPS resources.

Spread the Word about the AMA-YPS
Prepared e-mail text to send to your colleagues to tell them about AMA-YPS resources and YPS web site. You can easily add an accompanying message to identify you as their local contact or to solicit feedback!

Brochures/Flyers: If you're going to your local medical society meeting or a national specialty society meeting, why not print and take along some of the following materials to distribute or display.

Summarizes effort to ensure prompt payment, and outlines steps physicians can take.

Offers concrete tips on how to recognize and prevent tactics used to delay/reject payment claims.

15 Questions to ask Before Signing a Managed Care Contract (PDF, 602KB)
Helps physicians evaluate whether or not to sign a managed care contract. Designed to complement the AMA Model Managed Care Contract. Also see Contracting slide presentation below.

Setting the Ground Rules (PDF, 564KB)
Describes AMA advocacy efforts to help physicians in the managed care arena.

Highlights YPS accomplishments, activities and resources, discusses value of AMA-YPS to young physicians.

Contracting (PDF, 205KB)
Developed by Dr. John Armstrong, former AMA-YPS chair and current BOT member, based on the publication, Contracts: What You Need to Know. This can be used as a template for a presentation to young physicians and residents.

Connecting the Dots to Prevent Youth Violence
Developed by the AMA Public Health Group, to help physicians address youth violence. Two versions are available: health professional speech slides, and youth and community speech slides. A training manual includes print versions of the slides as well as audience handouts.

Race, Trust and Tuskegee: Professional Ethics, Broken Trust and Health Disparities
Choose some of the points, data, resources, and references to create a customized presentation that meets your specific goals and needs. Includes PowerPoint slides, speaker's notes, and a bibliography. Information was originally presented, in part, by Dr. Matthew Wynia MD, MPH at a June 2002 meeting of the American Medical Association's Medical Student Section. The meeting was hosted by the AMA Minority Affairs Consortium.

Shaping Professionalism: Medical Oaths and Codes of Ethics
Developed by the AMA Ethics Resource Center, gives a historical overview of medical oaths and uses ethical scenarios to highlight how the AMA's Code of Medical Ethics can provide valuable guidance when confronted by medicine's channelging issues. Can be adapted for delivery to medical students, residents and other physician audiences.

Gifts to Physicians from Industry
Series of four modules, each designed for one-hour educational presentation. Each module includes slide show, comprehensive presenter's guide, and a handout.
