ECFMG invites you to submit your IMG narrative
The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is continuing to develop resources to assist newly arriving IMGs. As part of this effort the ECFMG invites you to compose and submit your narrative, the story of your journey from your home country through to successful entry and settling into the GME program you are now in or have completed. By making your narrative available you will help those in the U.S. healthcare and medical education systems appreciate the IMGs' accomplishments and inspire additional efforts to assist IMGs in their acculturation to the American medical and education systems. Download Narratives-The Stories of IMGs (PDF, 19 KB requires Adobe® Reader®) for more information on submitting your narrative.
Wanted: advisors for IMG network
The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is seeking the participation of qualified physicians in the implementation of a new resource for International Medical Graduates (IMG). The IMG Advisors Network (IAN) allows IMGs who are applying for J-1 Exchange Visitor Program visas to communicate directly with IMGs who have successfully entered or completed GME training in the U.S. These individuals will all have achieved ECFMG certification and been offered positions in accredited Graduate Medical Education programs in the U.S.
Advisors are invited to serve on a voluntary basis and will be listed in the IAN on-line database by name, medical specialty, U.S. GME program, location in the U.S., country of origin, medical school and other demographics. If you are an IMG physician in or having completed training in a U.S. residency or fellowship program, and would like to learn more about how you can help newly arriving IMGs more smoothly transition into and become comfortable with living and working in the U.S Go to http://www.ecfmg.org/acculturation/ian.html for additional information on serving as an advisor in the ECFMG IMG Advisor Network.
