"The AMA is committed to improving patient safety, enhancing health care quality and strengthening the patient-physician bond through the use of appropriate technology, and we believe that electronic personal health records are an important service for physicians and patients. Privacy and security safeguards must be top priority as health care moves into a more interactive and electronic future. We are glad to have been a part of the creation of this framework, and strongly support this effort to help ensure patient information in electronic PHRs is protected."
